Remi De Roo, Pilgrim and Prophet
Remi De Roo (1924–2022) was one of the youngest bishops at the Second Vatican Council – only 38 years old when it began in 1962. The Council would shape him and his ministry in untold ways, including his understanding of the laity, the role of women, religious life and ministerial priesthood, marriage, poverty, peace, Indigenous Peoples, human rights and ecology. He continued to live out, share and explore the Council’s teachings for the rest of his life, engaging in dialogue and preaching the Gospel in his actions and words.
